CATS bus routes to change March 30
BATON ROUGE- The Capital Area Transit System has announced it will be making major changes to its bus route system at the end of the month.
On March 30, CATS buses will be using a new system, that will include five transit hubs to improve efficiency and shorten ride time for most riders.
Riders will no longer have to travel to the terminal at 22nd Street to get to most destinations.
CATS CEO Bob Mirabito says they will have 20 routes, including 10 new ones.
There will be an airport express shuttle from downtown and an O'Neal Park-n-Ride express, both of which are piloting wi-fi availability for rider use.
The system route changes are the first step in a phased implementation plan of numerous long-term changes expected at CATS.
The new routes are posted online at www.brcats.com, with maps of the full system, the hubs themselves, and the new individual routes.
