BATON ROUGE - Everyone wants to open district play 1-0, especially in 5-5A where the competition will be tough every night. That's exactly what Catholic did, defeating St. Amant 44-21

Only leading 3-0 after the first quarter, the Bears scoring 34 points in the second quarter to take a 37-14 lead into halftime.

The Bears are now 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in district, while the Gators fall to 3-3 and 0-1 in district. 

Catholic travels to Dutchtown next week, while St. Amant hosts McKinley.
