Catholic High wins 7th state track title in last 8 years
BATON ROUGE - The dynasty continues for the Catholic High track and field team, as the Bears won the Class 5A outdoor state title with a meet-record score of 121 points at Bernie Moore track stadium Saturday night.
The title is the 3rd consecutive outdoor win for the Bears, and the 7th in the last 8 years for head coach Pete Boudreaux.
It was a great weekend for Baton Rouge area teams, as the Ascension Catholic girls and Southern Lab boys took home the Class 1A state girls and boys titles, respectively and Episcopal swept boys and girls titles in Class 2A.
In Class 5A, the Zachary girls won alongside Catholic, giving the Baton Rouge area 6 state champions out of a possible 10 teams from Class 1A to 5A.
