At least 160 families in Baton Rouge still need help this Christmas. Catholic Charities' family sponsorship program, which pairs up needy families with groups and families who want to help.
"Now I know my kids will be having a Christmas," said Sharonda Andrews, who received help from the program. Andrews met her donors, a group from The Neuromedical Center in Baton Rouge, Thursday. The donors said giving a family gifts is almost better than big Christmas at home.
"It's rewarding for everyone, not just the families receiving gifts but as the givers of the gifts it does so much for us too, teaching us to give back to others," said Stephanie Leblanc who helped make Andrews' Christmas special.
This year the program will help more than 500 families. To find out how you can sponsor a family in need visit www.ccdiobr.org.
