Casino boss arrested on theft charges
SHREVEPORT - The arrest of a key manager at a state casino is the first of its kind, State Police said late Friday.
Frank Leeper, 45, was booked into jail on felony theft charges. When he was arrested, he was the director of slots at Sam's Town Hotel and Casino in Shreveport where investigators said he'd been taking money by creating fake credit payouts. It is believed Leeper was able to swindle about $3,000 before being caught, troopers wrote in a news release.
Leeper confessed and was arrested Friday.
"The trust that the public places in us to ensure a fair gaming experience is not something we take lightly," Col. Mike Edmonson said in a statement. "Troopers work diligently day and night to protect the public interest and ensure the integrity of gaming in Louisiana."
The casino reported the allegations of fraud and cooperated with investigators. Patrons were not defrauded.
