GONZALES - An Ascension Parish grand jury has indicted a Carville man in the rape and slaying of an 18-year-old woman abducted from a Dutchtown convenience store in 1990.
Tolbert Morris is charged with second-degree kidnapping, aggravated rape and first-degree murder in the slaying of Tammy Laine Bowers.
Prosecutors have said 43-year-old Herman Frazier admitted in September to a role in the abduction, rape and slaying, but also accused Morris of raping Bowers and being the person who beat her to death.
Frazier pleaded guilty to manslaughter, forcible rape and second-degree kidnapping.
Morris' arraignment is set for Dec. 9.
