Carrying aid, team survives its own tornado
LEESVILLE - Members of a southwest Louisiana softball team went to a tournament with a trailer loaded with supplies for victims of the May 20 tornado in Moore, Okla., only to find themselves threatened by another tornado.
Fifteen-year-old Alexis Hagen tells The Leesville Daily Leader the experience taught her never to take anything for granted.
The Champion Softball team had been in Moore only about 90 minutes on May 31 when they were told to return to their hotel because of threatening weather.
After huddling with hundreds of others in the basement laundry room, they had to go to another hotel because of broken windows.
