Cardinals take Honey Badger
NEW YORK- Former LSU safety Tyrann Matheiu will be back on the football field again, snatched by the Arizona Cardinals as the team's third-round draft pick.
Arizona took one LSU player, linebacker Kevin Minter, in the second round and took a chance in the third by selecting the Honey Badger.
Immediately after the selection, he said "marijuana isn't an issue anymore.. I'm ready to play football."
Once considered a Heisman Trophy front-runner, Mathieu didn't play last season after Tigers coach Les Miles kicked him off the team for failing multiple drug tests.
A close friend of Cardinals Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson, Mathieu spent the past few months trying to rehabilitate his image after being arrested in October with three former teammates for marijuana possession at his Baton Rouge apartment.
