Carbo expanding in New Iberia
NEW IBERIA - Carbo Ceramics Inc. said Tuesday that it will expand its plant at the Airport Industrial Park in New Iberia, creating 40 new jobs.
The company currently employs 75 at the site. Houston-based Carbo manufactures proppant, which is used by petroleum companies to boost the output of oil and natural gas wells.
State economic development officials said the new jobs will average about $50,000 a year. Carbo will be adding a second production line and plans to have it in operation by the fourth quarter of 2011.
Officials said the plant expansion will require about 100 construction workers.
