Police are searching for a man who stole a Ford Explorer with a 2-year-old boy still inside.

Police say the boy's mother was pumping gas at a convenience store in Kenner with her purse, keys and baby inside the car. Witnesses say the man jumped in the SUV and hit a truck while leaving the parking lot.

The toddler was found in the vehicle, unharmed, after the theif abandoned it in New Orleans. The mother's purse was emptied.
