Car abandoned after hitting train
BATON ROUGE - Police said a group of people abandoned their car after running into a train in Baton Rouge Monday morning, then came back after police were on the scene.
Officers said the driver ignored or didn't see warning signals at the crossing and hit the train near North Ardenwood and Choctaw around 10 a.m.
Investigators said up to three people were inside the car and fled the scene after the wreck. Police said they later came back, and will face multiple traffic citations.
There were no reports of any injuries. The car had moderate damage.
The train was stopped at the crossing while police investigate the scene, blocking the road. The crossing has lights, but no warning arms.
