Capitol to hold armed forces memorial on May 22
BATON ROUGE - Speaker Chuck Kleckley and all members of the Louisiana House of Representatives will recognize fallen members of the armed forces with a Memorial Day tribute on Thursday, May 22.
This year's celebration will be led by state Representative and army veteraMay 22 Nick Lorusso, R-New Orleans, and will be dedicated to remembering those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The tribute will begin with a military presentation in the House Chamber at 9 a.m. where the U.S. Marine Corps Band will play and soldiers of the Washington Artillery unit of the Louisiana Army National Guard will present the colors in vintage 1838 uniforms.
Veterans and the public are invited to join members of the House for a rifle salute by members of the Louisiana National Guard on the capitol grounds near the statue of Huey Long.
