Multiple cameras capture robbery at fast food restaurant
BATON ROUGE - Police want your help identifying two thieves who robbed Cane's Chicken on Government Street just after 11 a.m. Friday.
They made off with cash from inside the drive-thru's only location, escaping police.
Even with their brazen tactics-- brandishing a semi-automatic handgun-- it was their unusual attire and getaway car that has eyebrows raised.
The two men-- one wearing bright red head to toe, including a red hat, and the other wearing all black with the beginnings of short dreads-- got away in an older model golden colored Dodge Neon with golden-colored tint on the windows. All of it was caught on tape.
"We have anywhere from 12 to 16 video cameras that are always surveying the outside of the property, as well as inside," Cane's Spokesperson Clint Penfield told News 2.
Penfield said police are combing through the video to try to determine who the brazen criminals are.
Meanwhile, police spent the afternoon taking DNA from employee's cheek swabs. They also took statements from the gaggle of shaken workers who sat outside for nearly an hour after the robbery.
Penfield said it is standard procedure to offer counseling to employees after a traumatic incident like this.
