Candy cigarette bust
A woman pulled candy cigarettes, her best-selling candy item, from her store in order to avoid a citation and fine in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were being sold at Lynden's soda fountain, an old-school soda shop. City inspectors threatened the $500 fine and citation after they looked into a complaint tobacco products were being sold at the store. Selling the candy smokes violates an ordinance barring them and cartoon character lighters. The ordinance was enacted to discourage youngsters from picking up a real smoking habit.
