Candidate says abortion groups contemplate infanticide
WASHINGTON- The abortion debate is heating up a Senate race in North Carolina.
Republican candidate Greg Brannon charges that killing babies that survive abortions could happen in America.
Brannon was quoted as saying "Florida's trying to do it right now" last November but the remark was just made public.
He's challenging incumbent Democrat Kay Hagan.
Brannon's camp says he was referring to testimony made in 2013 by a Florida Planned Parenthood lobbyist before a state house committee.
When asked what would happen to a baby born alive after a botched abortion, the lobbyist said the decision should be between the woman and the doctor.
Planned Parenthood also said the situation is unlikely but a doctor would provide appropriate care to the mother and baby.
