Cancer scam woman goes to prison
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK- A woman who bilked people for donations for phony cancer treatments to feed a heroin addiction is going to prison.
Brittany Ozarowski pleaded guilty to various charges two-years ago and was sent to a drug rehab program instead of prison as prosecutors wanted. She failed out of the rehab program and a judge sentenced her to three-years.
Her lawyer blames her removal from the program on a violation for smoking a cigarette.
She scammed friends, neighbors and businesses out of thousands of dollars in the phony cancer scheme.
