Cancer scam to finance breast implants
A woman who ran a medical scam claiming she had cancer in order to raise money for breast implants got a year in prison in Arizona. Authorities say 27-year-old Jami Lynn Toler helped organize fundraisers and collected more than $8,000 beginning last September. She pleaded guilty last month to a theft charge in a plea bargain. Toler told her mother, grandparents and former boss she needed a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction due to cancer but was uninsured. She paid a plastic surgeon cash for the breast augmentation. She was also orderd to pay back the people she scammed.
