We have some calm weather this morning with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 70s.
The weather will be changing this afternoon as another disturbance, or cold pocket of air aloft, moves over Southeast Louisiana. At the same time, a weak cold front will be stalling over the Southeast U.S. They will tap into the hot and humid air mass over the state, and that will set off scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong at times with heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and a lot of lightning. Some flash flooding will be possible across the area with the best chance near Hammond. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s.
The showers and storms will continue through the evening hours with the threat for heavy rain. Then we will become mostly cloudy overnight. Low temperatures will be in the lower to mid 70s.
