Caffeine bandit sweeps store shelves
PORT ALLEN - Investigators asked for the public's help identifying a man who brazenly walked out of a Port Allen store with a box full of stolen coffee and energy drinks.
Police said the caffeine fiend went into the Family Dollar on Alexander Avenue just after 9 p.m. May 7 and walked back to the stock room. After checking to make sure no one was looking, police said the man grabbed a cardboard box and started sweeping items off the shelves.
In all, police said the man loaded up his box with 42 bags of coffee and 30 energy drinks. He then walked out of the store, ignoring the clerk who told him to stop, and loaded it all into a silver two-door Honda Accord which took off toward 8th Street.
Police asked anyone with information about the man's identity to call them at (225)343-5525.
