SHREVEPORT, La. - Officials say Caddo would spend an estimated $59,000 to $79,000 annually to maintain Forcht-Wade Correctional Center should Louisiana agree to revert the Keithville property back to the parish.
Assistant Parish Administrator Randy Lucky tells The Times a formal agreement has not been reached, but the two governments are discussing legal details of the transfer.
The state prison is 720-bed facility on 122 acres. It consists of 23 buildings, including a 50-bed medical building.
Forcht-Wade Correctional had a capacity of nearly 500 inmates. When it closed in July, inmates were sent to work-release programs or transferred to David Wade Correctional Center in Homer.
