BATON ROUGE- City leaders approved a buyout plan for a neighborhood on the northern end of the city near a wastewater treatment plant.

People who live in University Heights have been asking for a buyout for years. They complain the treatment plant stinks and has ruined their quality of life.

Wednesday evening, the Metro Council approved the $6 million buyout offer.

Details about when it will go through were not immediately available.
