BATON ROUGE- Some people too busy to decorate are finding more holiday cheer by hiring help to spruce up their home for the holidays.
For around $300 you can kick back and sip cocoa as workers set up your lights. Some are college students looking for extra cash, while others like landscaper Johnathan Johnston got into it because of a few desperate clients at Triplet Lawn Care.
"We got the call like 'I don't like putting up lights.' and I was like, 'Who does?'" Johnston said. "But since we get paid to do it we're more than happy to."
Putting up Christmas lights isn't the only Christmas task many are leaving to the pros: many are also hiring someone else to decorate their Christmas trees.
"We typically string around 2,000 lights per tree," says Rodney Moedt, one of the tree designers at Ricky Heroman's Florist and Gifts, where they're already working on nearly 100 orders.
People are forking out nearly $50 an hour to have him toss the tinsel onto their trees. It's a simpler option, for people who are too busy this year.
"People come in and they say this is what I'd like to have, then they give us an idea of what they want to have and we do it, " said Moedt.
Other people say they do it themselves because it's a family tradition.
