Busy Baton Rouge road closing again tonight
BATON ROUGE - Traffic officials plan to close a portion of busy Lee Drive again tonight for sewer work.
The closure stretches from Blue Bell Drive to Bennett Drive starting at 7 p.m. tonight. It's expected to reopen Monday at 7 p.m.
Drivers are asked to detour along Highland to Stanford Avenue, then up to Perkins Road and over to LSU Avenue. Stanford Drive is also under construction, so drivers should plan for delays.
The closure will let a contractor remove and replace a drainage pipe across Lee Drive. City-parish officials said it wasn't part of originally-planned sewer work, but during the project workers found it deteriorated beyond fixing.
This is the last full closure planned for Lee Drive as part of the project. The city-parish says all significant traffic impacts should be cleared by the start of the school year on August 12, and no later than the start of the LSU fall semester on August 26.
