NEW ORLEANS- The Hornets Business Council is buying Hornet's tickets and encouraging regional businesses and others to do the same.

It's an attempt to keep the team in New Orleans. Hornets majority owner George Shinn is selling the team to the NBA.

The decision has created a firestorm as people are worried that the league will sell it to someone who will potentially move it from New Orleans.

The group raised $250,000 in two days to purchase tickets and boost attendance at games.

A clause in the Hornet's lease at the New Orleans Arena allows the team to leave after this season if average attendance over a two year period falls below 14,735.
