MARINGOUIN - A school bus went into a Maringouin bayou after hitting a house Thursday morning, according to law enforcement.

It happened near LA 76 and Musson Lane around 7:15 a.m.

Maringouin Police said there were 20 students on the bus when the wreck happened, and four were taken a local hospital complaining about head and back pain.

Investigators said the driver told them he couldn't turn the bus, and hit the house rather than run into a tree.

Police ticketed the driver for failure to maintain control and took him to the station for drug and alcohol testing, but they don't believe he was impaired. They took the bus to Addis to be inspected.

News 2's Michael Shingleton will have more on this wreck and investigation tonight starting at 4 p.m.
