Two alleged burglars got their getaway vehicle stuck in the mud over the weekend in Livingston Parish, leading to their arrests.

Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office officials say Kip O. Bryant, 41, and Theron Hadley, 27, both of Baton Rouge, broke into an elderly woman's house Saturday afternoon by kicking a door in. One of the men took her double barrel shotgun before running outside. When the two men tried leave the scene, their GMC SUV got stuck in the mud in their victim's yard. The two men attempted to push their vehicle out of the mud using the woman's car, but it also got stuck.

Two Denham Springs officers arrived at that point and held the men at gun point until deputies from the sheriff's office could arrive.

Bryant faces single counts of several charges, including aggravated burglary, criminal trespass, aggravated criminal damage to property, unauthorized use of a moveable, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, misrepresentation during booking and crimes against the elderly.

Hadley faces single counts of aggravated burglary, criminal trespass, aggravated criminal damage to property and unauthorized use of a moveable.

Both men remain in the Livingston Parish Detention Center awaiting the setting of bond.

The 82-year-old woman suffered no apparent harm during the incident.
