BAYOU SORREL- Authorities in Iberville Parish say burglaries have been on the rise since the holiday season started.
Almost a dozen burglaries across the parish have been reported. The thieves have snatched up electronics, jewelery, guns and even Christmas gifts, and they leave the homes disheveled. The latest hits happened in the Bayou Sorrel and Bayou Pigeon areas.
Authorities say this time of year makes it easy on burglars because gift boxes are left in trash cans and on curbs, and windows are left wide open to show off decorations.
They're advising people to be cautious of those actions and report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Office.
