Burglar "in the buff" arrested
WALKER- A man is charged with "peeping Tom", obscenity, and burglary after police say he ran from them completely nude.
Livingston Parish Deputies were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress on Ledoux Lane early this morning. They saw a riding lawn mower that appeared to have been taken from a nearby structure as if someone was stealing it. Police also noticed that window screens had been removed from at least three separate homes on this dead end street. They say chairs were positioned below each of these windows which would have allowed a person easy access to "peep" into the homes.
Suddenly the Deputies saw a man, who appeared to be nude, run from the shed where he had been hiding and "streak" out across a field.
The man scaled a fence made from tin and fled into a thickly wooded area. After several verbal commands to stop went unheeded, K-9 "Gunner" was deployed into the woods. Deputies who were following Gunner finally caught up to him. They located and handcuffed the man, brought him out, and transported him to a local hospital.
Upon release from the hospital, Jason D. Clayton was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
- 1 Count Peeping Tom
- 1 Count Obscenity
- 1 Count Simple Burglary
- 1 Count Felony Theft
- 1 Count Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
- 1 Count Attempted Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
- 1 Resisting an Officer
A hold has also been placed on Clayton for a probation violation.
Clayton told Deputies that he had taken a "party mix" of drugs earlier that night and that he was going to "borrow" the lawn mower and return it when he was finished cutting his grass. Deputies were puzzled as to how he was going to load this 500 pound riding mower into his 1997 Oldsmobile. They also found his clothes strew about the inside of the car.
Clayton was arrested earlier this year for another home invasion that occurred on June 29, 2011 south of Denham Springs.
