Burbank Drive roadwork begins Thursday
BATON ROUGE - Work begins next week on a heavily-traveled roadway near LSU.
Burbank Dr. will be widened from four to five lanes starting next Thursday night.
Crews will re-stripe the road, between Nicholson Dr. and the Burbank Commons Apartments, to add a new center lane. New left-turn lights have already been installed.
It comes in an effort to ease traffic congestion along the road. Drivers are currently forced to stop in the left lane in order to make a turn, causing delays and accidents.
A DOTD study found that no additional space would be needed for the extra lane.
Work should be completed by Nov. 11.
