PORT ALLEN - The West Baton Rouge Parish School Board has adopted a budget for the 2012-2013 year.

The Advocate reports the budget envisions revenue of $46.4 million and expenses of $45.8 million.

The budget was adopted this past week. It covers spending from July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013. A surplus of about $682,000 is expected at the end of the period.

The school district plans to spend about $1.2 million more this fiscal year than during the previous year on employee salary and benefits.
