Buddy Roemer recovering from stroke
BATON ROUGE - Former Governor Buddy Roemer is recovering after suffering what his son called a "small stroke" about four weeks ago.
Chas Roemer, the former governor's son and president of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, told reporters at the Baton Rouge Press Club Monday that his father is recovering well and is back at work.
He said the stroke affected some of the movement in the 70-year-old former governor's right hand. He also joked that the stroke may have affected his father's speech, which the younger Roemer said "may be a good thing."
