Buckeyes with the name of Oregon
OREGON, OHIO- The mayor of the town of Oregon, Ohio won't budge and changing the name for the college national championship game.
The Ohio State Buckeyes face the Oregon Ducks a week from Monday.
The mayor of Oregon was asked to change the name to show support and allegiance for the Buckeyes but says not since the town has had the name since 1838, 21 years before Oregon became a state. Instead, he says the Oregon Ducks should change their name.
He did issue a proclamation to change the town slogan to "Oregon, Ohio State Buckeyes by the bay, city of duck hunters. He also proclaimed this week as Ohio State Buckeye week for Oregon.
