LIVINGSTON - Fire crews battled another fire in woods Monday night.

The fire, seen in the distance as a bright orange glow along Burgess Road, was eventually put out. The fire department said it was the second time firefighters responded to the fire in one day.

There have been a series of fires since the State Fire Marshal issued a burn ban last week.

Miles away, in East Feliciana, fire departments have been dealing with one fire a day. The fires started long before the burn order was issued.

"When you are looking at about twelve to fifteen houses that could have caught on fire here, if it wasn't for the response of everyone with East Parish, we probably would have lost about three houses on this one fire," the fire chief in that area, Darryl Buhler, said about a fire that started over the weekend and re-ignited Monday, too.

Officials told WBRZ reporter Brett Buffington, the fire in East Feliciana was started by someone burning tires.

In Livingston, firefighters are not sure what started the blaze Monday night.

Lighting an outdoor fire during a burn ban can be punished by fines. In some areas, local government increase the fines.
