BRPD: Would-be robber shot by victim
BATON ROUGE - Police said a teen robber was shot by his intended victim last night, then arrested after fleeing the scene in Baton Rouge.
Lt. Don Kelly said it happened after the victim ran out of gas along the 2400 block of N. Acadian Thruway. He was refilling his car with a can of gas when Kelly said two teens came up to him, and one armed with a gun demanded his money.
Kelly said the victim grabbed at the gun, and while they fought over it he managed to get his own weapon from the vehicle and shoot the teen in the stomach. The two teens fled to a friend's house, where Kelly said someone called police and both teens were arrested.
The 17-year-old who was shot was taken to the hospital, and Kelly said he'd be arrested once released. The 16-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. Both were charged with armed robbery.
