BRPD traffic stops lead to 8 arrests, drugs seized
BATON ROUGE - Police said two days of proactive patrolling resulted in eight arrests and the seizure of large quantities of a variety of street drugs in Baton Rouge.
Officers said a traffic stop in the 1400 block of N. 38th St. on Wednesday evening led to the confiscation of more than 2,000 prescription narcotic pills and the arrest of Ronnie Jackson, 29, and Mikeshia Stewart, 26.
Another traffic stop on Thursday night in the 3000 block of Winbourne Ave. resulted in the seizure of large amounts of crack cocaine and marijuana along with the arrest of Jason Webb, 35, Marcus Rowan, 28, and LaQuanna Collins, 28, according to police.
Law enforcement said Rowan also had a handgun in his possession and will face additional charges due to his status as a previously convicted felon.
The BRAVE Unit said a third traffic stop was conducted by in the 1300 block of Fig St. later on Thursday evening resulting in the arrest of three more individuals.
Jabari Matthews, 22, Dennis Duronslet, 20, and Donald Allen, 23, were found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana.
All of the suspects were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on drug charges.
