BATON ROUGE - Police in Baton Rouge announced today that they've scheduled a free women's self-defense course for the end of this month.

Called "The Equalizer", the 16-hour class will involve hands-on, physical training at the Police Academy Gym.

The course takes place over four classes, starting April 23 and continuing April 25, April 30 and May 2. Class starts each night at 6 p.m. and ends around 10 p.m.

People must be at least 13 years old with no current injuries to attend. You must also attend the first night on April 23 to be eligible for later sessions.

Police also offered an optional Equalizer manual for $20, but the classes do not have a cost to attend.

Registration is required, and can be done by calling the Training Academy at (225) 389-3886.
