BRPD: Teen shot in May dies from injuries
BATON ROUGE - Police said a teen girl shot and paralyzed back in May died from her injuries this week.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely with Baton Rouge Police said Mary Johnson, 16, of Baker died on Nov. 7. She'd been shot in the back of the neck while walking down Topeka Street, and the injuries paralyzed her from the neck down.
McKneely said charges against Dedric White, 18, will be upgraded to second-degree murder. He was arrested back on May 24, and investigators believe he shot John in the back after she refused to have sex with him.
White is in the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on an $85,000 bond.
