BRPD: Suspicious package was forgotten delivery
BATON ROUGE - Police said a suspicious package blown up by the bomb squad turned out to have been a delivery the recipient forgot was coming.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said the package was actually a shipment of seeds sent to the owner of a downtown restaurant, who called and reported the "suspicious" package to BRPD.
The bomb squad chose to detonate the package on the nearby levee bank out of an abundance of caution. After examining the remains and telling the restaurant owner what was inside, McKneely said they remembered they were actually supposed to receive a delivery of seeds.
