BATON ROUGE - A carjacking turned deadly for one of the suspects when she crashed the stolen car in Baton Rouge Monday morning.

The high-speed crash left the stolen vehicle overturned and resting on its hood near the ATM at Red River Bank on Old Hammond Highway at Drusilla. Baton Rouge Police said the chaos was started by two females who asked a woman for a ride to escape the cold.

"The victim, who felt sorry because of the cold weather, gave them a ride to Government (Street) and Community College Drive," said Baton Rouge Police Cpl. Don Coppola. "Once there, the ladies told the victim they had a gun and they would take her vehicle."

The victim jumped out of her car. The two suspects sped away, only to run a red light moments later and smash into another car carrying an infant child and her mother, 26-year-old Jessica Graves,

"The baby was in the car with mom in car seat," said Karyn McDuffie, who witnessed the scene. "They took her out and she was crying. I hope she's OK."

Police said the infant and her mother will be OK. Police said the suspect driving the stolen car died at the scene. She's bee identified as 19-year-old Kiamonte Davis.

"Oh it was horrible," McDuffie said. "In fact my heart feels so funny right now. I don't know, like my breath was taken away."

The surviving suspect was identified as Princess Wright, 20, of Baton Rouge. She was arrested at the scene with no injuries and will face charges of 1st degree robbery.
