BRPD releases identity of slain home invader
BATON ROUGE - Police identified a man who was shot multiple times and died from his injuries after he tried to break into a Baton Rouge home on Friday morning.
36-year-old James Boyette was shot and killed around noon while attempting to burglarize a home in the 900 block of Woodhaven Street.
A BRPD spokesperson said the shooting happened as Boyette crawled into the residence through a bedroom window, only to encounter the armed and ready 46-year-old homeowner who was waiting for the intruder on the other side.
The home invader was shot three times in the chest and taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his gunshot wounds.
According to investigators, Boyette had a criminal history and was in possession of drugs at the time of the thwarted burglary.
Police said the incident remains under investigation at this time.
