BRPD Officer punched in face after parade downtown

BATON ROUGE- A Baton Rouge Police Officer was injured and transported to the hospital after an incident at Florida and Lafayette Streets downtown.

According to BRPD, a 18-year-old Christopher Hensley of Zachary was arrested around 2:45 p.m. Saturday following the Spanish Town Parade after he punched a uniformed Baton Rouge Police Officer in the face.

Witnesses at the scene told News 2 they saw a female officer struggle with a man.  That's when the witnesses say they saw him punch the female officer in the face.  In the photo you can see the female officer holding her face.  That is the officer witnesses say was punched.

The officer received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
