BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge cop and an unidentified female are in serious condition after a driver smashed into the back of a parked Baton Rouge Police unit.

The crash happened early Saturday morning while the 33-year-old police officer was looking into a car burglary at an apartment complex off Prescott.

Police say, the driver of a van ran off the road and hit the police car pinning the unidentified female between the police car and another parked car. The police officer was also hit, sending him airborne and into another parked car.

The van continued driving, hitting two more cars before stopping when the van hit a brick wall of an apartment building. The driver then ran away.

Police are still looking for the driver. Both the police officer and the unidentified female are expected to be okay.
