BRPD motorcycle officer hit by big rig
BATON ROUGE - Authorities said a motorcycle officer with Baton Rouge Police was involved in a wreck Monday morning which closed Florida Boulevard for a time.
The wreck happened around 11 a.m. at Florida and Airline Highway. BRPD said an 18-wheeler changed lanes and didn't see the officer.
EMS said the officer was taken to the hospital from the scene in stable condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler was cited for failing to yield.
Police closed the westbound side of Florida for a half-hour while they worked the wreck.
