BRPD: Man torched car after deadly hit-and-run
BATON ROUGE - Police released the name of a man wanted in connection with a deadly hit and run in Baton Rouge last month.
Cpl. Don Coppola said Janneh Trench, 35, of Vacherie is wanted for charges of felony hit and run, reckless operation, obstruction of justice, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Investigators said Trench caused a wreck on June 20 that killed Eric Fabre, 20, of Slidell. Police said Trench rear-ended Fabre, who was driving a scooter, while on Airline Highway near Old Hammond. Fabre died at the scene.
Police said Trench fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle in a lot on Erie Street, then tried to set it on fire to destroy evidence from the crash.
Anyone with information on Trench's whereabouts should call the BRPD Traffic Homicide Unit at (225) 389-7819.
