BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a Baton Rouge man during a domestic abuse investigation in which officers said they also found three emaciated dogs belonging to the suspect.

BRPD accused 32-year-old Bobby Rogers of domestic abuse battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and cruelty to animals after his arrest Monday.

Investigators said Rogers' wife contacted them on Saturday and said they had been in a fight at her home on 72nd Avenue during which Rogers hit her and pointed a gun at her head, saying "I'm going to kill you and your kids." Police said she had a cut on her lip, and said she and Rogers weren't currently living together.

Police went back to the home on Monday to talk with Rogers, who denied what his wife had said. Officers said while at the home they also noticed three emaciated dogs chained up with no clean water or adequate shelter. Animal control officers seized the dogs while police arrested Rogers.

Officers booked Rogers into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond had been set as of Tuesday morning.
