BRPD: Man surrenders in deadly shooting

BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a Baton Rouge man after they said he surrendered to murder charges for a shooting earlier this month on La Annie Drive.

Cpl. Don Coppola said Reginald Pickett Jr., 19, turned himself in to detectives around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators accused him of killing Lezell James, 17, in a shooting just after midnight on Aug. 1.

Police said they were initially called for a reports of shots in the area, and found James with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Officers booked Pickett into the parish jail on charges of second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
