BRPD looking for man behind dollar store armed robbery
BATON ROUGE - Detectives are looking for a man who used a metal pipe to rob a Baton Rouge dollar store last Friday.
According to Baton Rouge Police, the robbery took place at the Family Dollar in the 12000 block of Florida Blvd on July 31 at about 10:40 a.m. The suspect entered the business, approached the front counter posing as a customer and demanded money from the cash register. When the cashier refused, the suspect pulled out a metal pipe and hit him in the head.
Police said the suspect only fled the scene on foot when an employee activated the business' alarm. The cashier who was struck with the pipe refused medical treatment following the robbery.
Detectives say the suspect is around 5'10" tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing including a black bucket hat and white sneakers.
