BRPD: Hit and run caused deadly 18-wheeler wreck
BATON ROUGE - Police said an anonymous tip led them to accuse Thomas Moore III Monday of causing a deadly wreck last week in which a woman was hit by an 18-wheeler.
Police said Moore caused the crash which killed Lahisha Walls, 37, Friday morning on Airline Highway.
Investigators said a tip helped them learn Moore was driving on Airline when he tried to change lanes, and didn't see Walls' car. Police said Walls swerved to avoid hitting Moore, crossed the median into oncoming traffic, and was hit by an 18-wheeler. She died at the scene.
Police said Moore didn't stop after causing the crash. He was booked into the parish prison on felony hit and run charges.
