Burned car could be connected to deadly wreck
BATON ROUGE - Investigators believe they found the vehicle that fled the scene of a Friday morning hit-and-run that left a motorcyclist dead.
Police said 20-year-old Eric Fabre of Slidell was riding a Honda scooter north on Airline Hwy. around 12:58 a.m. on June 20 when he was hit from behind and died at the scene of the crash.
BRPD were on the look out for a vehicle described as red or maroon that fled north on Airline Hwy., and found an abandoned Chrysler 300 matching the description only a few hours later.
The car had been set on fire and left to burn on west of Plank Rd. on Erie St., according to law enforcement.
Investigators said they have yet to determine the owner of the car, but believe it is the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that killed Fabre.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Traffic Homicide Division at (225) 389-7819.
