BRPD: Fight over water bill led to shooting
BATON ROUGE - A fight over a water bill sent two men to the hospital, and landed one of them in jail according to Baton Rouge Police.
Sgt. Don Stone said detectives were called to 5304 Sycamore after reports of shots fired around noon. Investigators said they found Anthony Malveo, 39, had been shot once in the chest and Malcolm Patrick, 50, had been shot twice in the leg.
Stone said Malveo and Patrick had been arguing over a water bill when Patrick shot Malveo once in the chest. He said they struggled over the gun and Malveo was able to get it away from Patrick, then shot him twice in the leg.
Both men were taken to a local hospital. Malveo remains there in serious condition, while Patrick was released and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail for attempted second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
